Solemn Holy Mass for the Opening Day of New School Year
Sai Gon, Sep 5, 2012 – More than 180 students from 36 congregations and religious institutes of which some are of international institutions have joined in the Holy Mass in honor of the Holy Spirit presided by Fr. Vincent Pham Xuan Hung, O.P., Asistant to the Prior Provincial, together with 20 concelebrants, to mark the Opening of the New Academic Year 2012-2013 at the Dominican Higher Studies Center “Sedes Sapientiae” this morning, September 5, 2012, in the Saint Dominic Parish Church, just 5 kilometers away from the heart of Sai Gon (now Ho Chi Minh City.)
In his short welcome message before the Holy Mass, Fr. Joseph Pham Quoc Van, O.P., Rector, thanked all present, professors and students, superiors of congregations, for their heartfelt and constant trust and support, so that people may see the visible growth both in quantity and in quality of the Center. One of the newest achievements of the Center, according to Fr. Rector, is that students taking philosophy classes, which have started since last school year, are qualified candidates for priesthood.
Classes—such as Sacred Scripture, Introduction to Theology, Sacred Liturgy, Introduction to Philosophy, Canon Law…— have begun right after a simple but friendly and merry reception for both students, professors and entities’ superiors.
